About Threads For Thought
Threads for Thought is about and for a generation of young committed individuals, like Leigh and Eric, striving to improve the human condition and the preservation of the planet.
Threads for Thought was founded in 2005 by Eric Fleet and Leigh Ivan while they were still in college. They were both concerned about the many issues that were (and are) challenging our society; from the destruction of the rainforests in Brazil, to carbon emissions by coal fired plants in China, to the genocide in Darfur, to the war in Iraq, to the continued threat of terrorism, to obesity in young children and a vast multitude of other problems. They decided that they needed to find a vehicle to engage their friends, their generation and people across the country and world. With that in mind, Eric and Leigh decided that they would start a clothing brand, but with a twist....the brand and clothing would carry messages to inspire change and a call to action...the brand would donate a generous portion of their proceeds to charities and the company would be committed to sustainability both in their products & their practices.
The messages could be as overt as graphics that advocate for a cause or as subtle as a perfect basic tee made from organic cotton blended with polyester that was made by recycling plastic water bottles.
The objective: to design and manufacture the most fashionable clothing that was affordable to all while using sustainable materials and made in factories that respected their employees with fair wages, fair working hours and working conditions. By committing to these goals, Threads for Thought has become a brand both synonymous with sustainability as well as thought.
