Not sure why, but I really like layers on men. Obviously, it needs to be thought out, like any layering, but it seems like this is a trend that still scares people on both sides of the gender line.

Talking to a few of my guy friends, a lot of them complain that they hate wearing layers because they get too hot with so many pieces of clothing on. I think the mistake is made when attention isn't paid to the combined weight of the fabrics.

One of the nice things about Alternative Apparel's tees is that not only are they soft enough to be worn as an undershirt, they also look nice enough to be worn on the outside and are thin enough to layer comfortably. The Amerosa Striped Tee lends a nice texture between the eco heather grey and true blue stripes with red stitch detail at the side hem.

This lightweight shawl collar sweater by Ben Sherman features a double button detail at the collar and is 100% cotton and perfect for layering. It looks great under the MASH Field Jacket by Alternative Apparel and really stands out against the True Religion Ricky in RAW.

Every Winter and Spring I hear "is it too early for me to wear white jeans?"

My answer: "No." Always, even in the Winter. "Just wear them with boots." Boots solve everything!

This year, we're so excited for these J Brand Skinny Leg Jeans in Snow White--it's the first time they've been available with stretch! It doesn't seem like much, but if you'd had a bad experience trying on their rigid white skinny jeans before, you'd understand! (I think all the shopgirls had at least one) The new white skinny is super lightweight and features their amazing tencel stretch denim in the 811 Midrise Skinny Leg that we've all come to LOVE! And, not that it's a big deal, the fit speaks for itself, but these sleek pants also have a gold and white enamel button that we're kind of obsessed with.

We're dying to add some color into our wardrobe and since we're already claiming "Winter White" we may as well pull out the neons too! If you hadn't noticed yet, neon is everywhere this season and we're loving every bit of it.

In this case, we paired the Nelly Neon Abstract Tank by Greylin with the loose, soft rose-colored Working Girl Blazer by MinkPink and our soon-to-arrive STRETCH white skinnies from J Brand and the stacked heel, Jax Ankle Boot by Dolce Vita in supple nubuck leather. We kept it interesting in the accessory department, opting for a studded version on Rebecca Minkoff's Wallet with a Chain and La Mer Oversized Watch in Teal.

So, we might love animal prints as much as we love neons (and Amanda Uprichard) so naturally, we had to pair them up at some point!

We're completely obsessed with everything Amanda Uprichard, but we're really loving the new Military Shirt with double pockets, button-up front and hi-lo hemline--and this bright blue is seriously GORGEOUS! Trends We Love: Neon

One of my favorite Rebecca Minkoff purchases of all time was a patent leather neon yellow Cory Pouch--so much so, that someone told me I needed to upgrade to a real bag after carrying it as a clutch too much. So, you can imagine my excitement when Rebecca's Resort and Pre-Spring Collections featured so much neon!

A great way to add a pop of color, or "POC," as Brad Goreski has termed it, adding neon to a simple black and white outfit instantly upgrades this comfy-casual outfit we're dying to lounge around in now.

LNA is Back!

One of our favorite basics lines of all time, LNA, is back at Swank and we’re excited to have basic tees, great leggings and their new sweater collection on its way!

Available in their unique V-Max or Modal fabrics, LNA’s Low Rise leggings are one of our favorite Fall staples! An absolute must-have, both styles are never sheer and the V-Max style is super thick and great for those of us who have been known to rock our leggings as pants! Featuring a simple elastic waistband and no other embellishments, LNA’s leggings hit perfectly at the ankle and never slide down or ride up.

Their basic crew neck only got better when they loosened up the style and changed it from cotton to 100% Rayon. Draping justtherightamount, this tee can go from under a suit, to lounging in jeans, to a skirt out for dinner without another glance.

We’re just as obsessed with these three tops as we are with the basics, but obviously for different reasons. We love the silk pockets! The two-tone charcoal-on-light-grey v-neck tee is super chic, while the caramel/deep purple combination on the tank is so unique we can’t take our eyes off of it. It really pops with dark denim and our Charlotte Tarantola Berkley Striped Cardigan. Now all we need is the perfect pair of boots…good thing they start arriving next week from Dolce Vita, Seychelles and we’re excited to announce—Vince Camuto, too!

What is the one thing we CANNOT live without every Fall/Winter season? TIGHTS and HOSIERY! …and for good reason. They make showing a little leg all year round a piece of cake! Without question these noteworthy accessories are a staple in our warming wardrobes and are to blame for the emotional frenzy that was the arrival of Philippe Matignon hosiery at the store this week.

Philippe Matignon has impeccable quality and a fashion forward feel. Made with fine yarns, this brand offers broad collections that are always in sync with the most current and classic trends. What stands out about these tights are their elegance, comfort, and wear-ability….read snag free—REALLY, we tested!!!

Oh yeah, and their price points are amazing! With all styles ringing in from $23-$48, we’re having a hard time figuring out which styles we aren’t getting! Talk about a jackpot, this shipment was full of glossy and opaque matte solids, semi-sheer with floral lace pattern, and semi-opaque with geometric interwoven pattern tights and a heavy footed legging! Also, tights elasticated with lycra 3d, and, a personal favorite, over the knee socks in shiny viscose (which were casually donned yesterday with a full and pleated French Connection skirt, our new Free People Seamless Textured Top, and a sexy black pair of our Dolce Vita Rosetta Pumps). Tights, tights, tights…we cannot get you off our mind.

WE LOVE a good switcheroo… breakfast for dinner, dramatic comedies, Cabo at Christmas… and in lieu of fashion’s knack for ironic oppositions, the most comfortable (and favorite, for obvious reasons) trend of the season is owed to nightwear-for-day, nailing the definition of casual-chic right on its head. In tune with our current mode here at the store are some recently welcomed bed jackets, by Free People and Jenny Han. These silky-shrug-bolero-esque pieces are being used for more than just a nightcap. We love the lace trim and soft pleated detailing of our Free People Barbarella Bed Jacket. Its cropped style effortlessly compliments the light fabric and short sleeves, making it easy to throw on over almost anything without being overwhelming. Free People shows it styled here over a hi-lo hemmed dress, floppy hat, and lace up booties, but for the bohemian-weary these go great over a simple tank/tee and a classic pair of denim. Fall Fever is the real deal…but too many clothes… does this exist? Yeah right, but we are coming close to capacity. As our fall shipments are still continuing to grace us with their ~~presents~~ presence, we…hardly overwhelmed…are putting them straight to work. It’s that time again… with Fashion Week peeking around every corner the sweet scent of autumn is slowly but surely bringing us out of our summer coma (spare us, we know) and back into reality. But as much as we may want to soak up every last ray and put chilly weather in its place, we must stay true to mother nature and embrace the seasons (styling purposes of course)! New arrivals have been pouring in this week from Free People, LA Made, Brandy & Melville and Pleasure Doing Business plus some pretty new accessories too!

Who says you can't still wear layers during the summer? I love pairing something so long and loose with the fitted Pleasure Doing Business Skirt underneath, especially in this muted palatte. I've found myself being drawn to mixing up whites and ivories with tans and beiges lately. It's surprisingly easy to wear on a variety of skin tones. It's a trend I can't wait to transition into Fall with a pair of boots and colored denim or my highwaisted flared denim!

Fringe on fringe, add crochet and a native bear print on top of our favorite mini skirt ever.

Yum. Despite looking like some sort of bondage (and sometimes feeling like it when you first put it on) Pleasure Doing Business Banded Skirts are both incredibly comfortable and flattering and completely sexy. No matter how many mini skirts I buy, none consistently capture my attention (or everyone else's) like a PDB. They work with most outfits and can be styled so many different ways, I PROMISE! Remember when I said they were really comfortable? They are. The rubber in the skirts warms up with your body heat and just stretches all the right ways--think J Brand skinnies in a skirt!

Drawing on our military inspiration, we had to pair this 10 Band Striped Pleasure Doing Business Skirt with this Brandy & Melville Fringed Wolf Moon Tank and oversized agate cuff. All of these items are currently on my MUST-HAVES list of new arrivals this week. I love the olive/forest green color and the way the fringe drapes over the stripes. This is a great summer-night-out outfit paired with some black wedges or flats for the day!

Just In: The Urban Turban by Buyers Remorse. Seen in bulk on the SS2011 runways, and worn by celebs, and f-loggers alike, the Urban Turban is something we are definitely starting to wrap our head around… or vice-versa. Right now there’s a colorful array of silky head wraps at the store, impatiently waiting to put a twist on any outfit. Dress them down with cut-offs and a plain tee for day, or look edgy for night with a maxi and leather jacket (currently melting at the thought).

The turbans are available in silk, lace, and rayon/spandex, adding versatile to the list of why they make us so happy. They are literally the perfect insta-chic accessory to throw on over any ensemble and look like a rock star. Love affair starting… now.
