Oh Eva!

Hungarian-born designer Eva Franco is hands-down one of my favorite modern designers with truly classical styles. Her style is very 1950's to me and romantic. There's just something so feminine about a full skirted dress or a fitted pencil skirt--but at the same time her designs are never boring. Eva sources nearly all her fabrics from overseas (the material for the Fifi skirt came from the south of France) and she makes sure to buy out the fabric to ensure your Eva Franco purchase is truly unique.  
Longer lengths are definitely making a comeback this Spring--starting at the knee and continuing at every interval down to the floor. (We have some amazing new maxis in!) The Charity Dress oozes sex appeal in such a subtle way. Hugging every curve in just the right way, the pleated full skirt of the dress is accentuated by the pleated and draped bustier bodice and the semi-sheer stripe insets and trim keep this style from being overwhelming. The matching belt perfectly defines the waist. This is a great style for a curvy body but looks just as good on those damn mannequin-type bodies, too! We paired it with one of our crystal encrusted leather cuffs and layered 2 simple necklaces as not to distract from the dress.

This is one of my favorite bodies from Eva--it's the same cut as my Christmas Eve dress and is incredibly flattering. You wouldn't believe how many people complimented me on this style and I'm definitely thinking I might need it in this incredible cobalt and orange ikat design. Down to the matching clear and orange belt, this dress is perfect in every single way.

The perfect blend of formal and fun, this charming pencil skirt features bow detailing down center front, wide waist band, and slit at back. A Shopgirl Review: “The Cargo Craze Continues”

As you all know, the cargo pant dominated the denim market this past season and is not going anywhere anytime soon!  Countless celebs have been spotted wearing the pant in both casual and effortlessly chic manners and we STILL can’t get enough!

Initially, I didn’t expect to be completely OBSESSED with the cargo trend. However, its’ versatile and stylish qualities won me over, whole-heartedly. Not to mention the COMFORT. From that point, I was convinced it was necessary to add the cargo pant to my list of staples. And I’ll tell you why…

Incredibly flattering, the cargo pant accentuates the curves yet slims the silhouette and elongates the legs. They are detailed with pockets that lay flat without creating those unsightly “bulks”. The cut is fabulously flattering and compliments a variety of physiques making it the perfect go-to pant!

Also, The versatility of the pants is amazing! Cargo’s can be dressed up, down and everything in between. Prints and bold hues (my favorite) are not off limits! For a chic and sexy ensemble, pair them with your favorite black silk blouse and show-stopping red suede wedges. Or on a relaxed day, pair them with ballet flats and a comfy off the shoulder jumper. These pants allow styling options galore! What’s not to love?

I’ll admit I am a bit crazed for the cargo. If you own a pair, I’m sure you understand my admiration. Don’t get me wrong; I still love my skinny’s, jeggings, and cords; but these cargos do so much more with so little effort AND the comfort is unbeatable.

ADA & Her Amazing Technicolored Belts!

We’re excited to introduce you to Ada Komorniczak, founder and designer of ADA Belts and Accessories! The Polish-born designer and her (gorgeous) Argentinean husband were both working her gorgeous belt-filled booth, which went from 0 to 60 in terms of customers while we were working with her! We were customers of Ada’s at her first tradeshow a year ago and have been proud (and well accessorized) fans and supporters of her line as it has evolved and grown.

We were amazed and excited when we walked into the ADA booth to find that not only had she worked to expand the palette of her ever-popular leather Obi belts (A SWANK BEST SELLER), but she had nearly quadrupled her style-selection and been experimenting with leather treatments and textures.

A new, extra-wide version of the obi belt, ADA’s new Petal Wrap Belt wraps once and ties with little “petal-like” tails at the front. It’s so cute and girly, we can’t wait to get one! Turn it backwards and tie it in the back for a cleaner silhouette or tie it as-shown.

We Love Deepa Gurnani Headbands!

We simply can’t get enough of Deepa Gurnani and their AMAZINGLY handcrafted headbands! With extensive experience beading couture pieces set to European standards of quality and finish, it is easy to see where Deepa Gurnani gathered the inspiration to create her own line of hair accessories.

While studying fashion at the prestigious Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, London, Deepa Gurnani beaded couture pieces for Alexander McQueen, Ben Maher, Emanuel Ungaro, Fendi, Marjan Pejoski, and more. Working with various designers, Deepa became inspired to create many pieces on her own, experimenting with beading and embroidery techniques eventually settling on hand beaded hairpieces as the cornerstone of her ever-expanding collection.

Jay Lakhani, a jewelry designer from the Fashion Institute of Technology, NYC, always dreamt of creating jeweled accessories. Having trained under the head designers of Tiffany and Bulgari, Jay was always drawn to fashion. With basics and black on the rise in fashion, he was keen to create something distinct and unusual-- something that would make a statement and give the wearer a distinct sense of style, glamour and individuality.

After the marriage of Deepa and Jay, the two designers collaborated their ideas and created pieces that incorporated jewelry and fashion and launched their label "Deepa Gurnani."

Each Deepa Gurnani piece is individually handcrafted in India, with the finest quality materials and crystals by highly trained and skilled craftsmen. Each is backed by a beautiful printed cotton for comfort and finished with 1-2 elastic strips to ensure the best fit--whether you wear it across your forehead or in your hair.

The designers add their final and personal touch to every piece by paying particular attention to quality and finish.

We’re off! Annie actually got some sleep on the plane, while I was busy messing with my new toy!

We narrowly escaped attack from the previously unknown offspring of Snuffleupagus and The Grinch in baggage claim!
