Inspired by a few sequin fashion faux-pas that we've seen, we thought we'd do a post on how we'd style sequins for Summer.
First off, don't get me wrong, I LOVE me some sequins! Jackets, skirts, dresses, shoes--you name it and I'll wear it. Bright, shiny metallic sequins just feel overpowering and a little too serious in the Summer and are way too dramatic for daytime! Flat, colored and metallic sequins, however, can work for a daytime or nighttime event and can be a fun alternative to an otherwise flashy embellishment.

We styled the French Connection dress below with our Costa Blanca Soft Drape Blazer, a Rebecca Minkoff Mini MAC, and some of our favorite House of Harlow 1960 necklace and bracelets.
The Halston is definitely more of a nighttime style because of it's sexier one shoulder cut, but you could also toss a chunky brown leather belt with a cropped denim jacket and dress it down considerably for an afternoon-to-evening cocktail event without feeling overdressed.
